Jan Mark Dudman, Attorney at Law
In addition to traditional divorce litigation, my divorce law firm also has experience taking cases through alternative forms of dispute resolution such as Mediation and Collaborative Divorce. I recommend Mediation or Collaborative Divorce as a cost effective and efficient alternative to litigation. Both Mediation and Collaborative Divorce aim to avoid lengthy, adversarial court battles, costing clients time and money. Collaborative Divorce entails each party signing an agreement not to take the divorce to court. Along with their attorneys, each side meets jointly with a team of financial and child psychological specialists to determine the best course of action in division of assets, custody, and visitation.
Family Law:
- Divorce, including Mediation and Collaborative Divorce
- Child Support
- Child Custody, Visitation, Guardianships
- Joint custody,
- Spousal Support, Alimony
- Pre-nuptial agreements and post-nuptial agreements
- Paternity issues
- Adoption (both minor and adult adoption)
- Domestic violence
- Restraining orders
- Guardianships
The benefits of Collaborative Divorce are: that the process empowers couples to be in control--not the court system, targets solutions, reduces emotional distress, and provides a solid foundation for a post-divorce relationship when children are involved. Mediation and the collaborative process tend to significantly reduce the costs of divorce.
